The
following series of pictures shows the process of change an
ugly-duckling patio into a beautiful outdoor space. The slab
shown in pictures one and two had several large "birdbaths," surface
staining cause by paint overspray and "ground-in" clay/dirt,
and a couple of tension cracks.
|
 |
 |
| After
performing an initial pressure-wash, low spots where indentified
and marked. The tension cracks were ground and filled with two-part
epoxy. The surface was then ground to remove paint overspray,
excess epoxy, and rough trowel ridges. New relief lines are cut
into the patio. |
The
surface was acid etched and pressure washed (again). Low areas
where then built-up using acrylic-modified grout.
|
 |
The
house and deck posts where masked and a WHITE skim coat was
applied to the entire surface.
|
 |
| The
pattern, consisting of 8-inch tiles and 16-inch tiles (offset
at an angle), was then placed using pattern tape. |
 |
Areas
where masked, and the acrylic cement was spayed-down using
DARK GRAY for the outer tiles, NOBLE GRAY inner tiles, and
a CUSTOM COLORED teal-green accent tile. The custom color matches
the houses trim and the paint on the underside of the deck
that covers this patio.
|
 |
| The
tape was pulled, revealing the completed pattern. The area was
then swept and "blown" to prepare it for sealing. |
 |
The
finished product.
From
embarrasing to amazing. Next on the agenda... the pool area.
Stay tuned!
